Business Marketing Checklist: Your Roadmap to Success

Marketing Checklist for Businesses and person taking notes

When starting a marketing plan for your business, it can be overwhelming knowing where to start. We’ve put together a step-by-step list that will help you organize the process. If you are still looking at this list thinking it is too much – we’re always here to help! Come talk to us about how we can help you put your best foot forward in your marketing journey.

Brand Identity Package: This includes a logo, color palette, typography, and brand guidelines. This should always be the first step in planning any marketing for your new business because it influences the look of everything. Consistent branding across all channels helps establish recognition and trust.

Website: An essential digital storefront where customers can learn about your products or services, make purchases, and contact you. Ensure it is mobile-friendly and optimized for search engines. Even if you don’t plan on having e-commerce, a website helps legitimize your business and is a reliable source for people to find information about you.

Social Media Presence: Create profiles on platforms relevant to your target audience. Make sure you are linking from your social media profiles to your website and vice versa. Your social media should show off your personality while remaining professional and polished.

Printed Collateral: This includes business cards, stationery, thank you cards, and any leave behind pieces for your customers. These pieces help your brand transition from digital to physical and show that you care about details. Not only are they a great way to relay information, but they also help keep your brand at the front of your customers’ mind.

Content Marketing Strategy: Develop valuable content such as blog posts, videos, or infographics that educate, entertain, or inspire your audience. This helps establish expertise and attracts potential customers. Many of these items can be cross posted and some can even be used over again!

Email Marketing: Build relationships with customers through personalized email campaigns. Offer exclusive deals, valuable content, and updates to keep subscribers engaged. Your email marketing should look like all your other branding and is a great place to offer deals to your most loyal customers! Inbox space is valuable and can be used to your advantage.

SEO Strategy: Optimize your website and content to rank higher in search engine results pages. Keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building are key components. This is often set up when you launch your website but should be kept up with over time as well to adjust to trends and new offerings.
